¡Nuevo libro!
Acaba de salir mi nuevo libro Mundo inmundo: cine, desastre y sobrevida, gracias al trabajo fenomenal de Editorial Las Cuarenta. Es el segundo volumen de la colección Los pájaros, dedicada al ensayo especulativo, que abrió este mismo año con El virus de lo absoluto, el último y monumental trabajo de Javier Trímboli, mi querido y admirado amigo con quien todavía tuve la suerte de intercambiar unos borradores e ideas cuando esos dos libros todavían eran colecciones de papeles y archivos en estado de desarreglo variado.
Muy feliz y honrado con acompañarlo ahora a Javier en esa colección de textos alados. El martes 2 de diciembre a las 18 presentamos el libro en JJ Circuito Cultural, con Victoria Cóccaro, Mario Cámara y David Oubiña – ¡gracias otra vez a les tres por acompañarme! New book series
SubAtlantic: Latin American, Caribbean, and Luso-African Ecologies
Together with Gabriel Giorgi (NYU) and Victoria Saramago, I am co-editing an exciting new book series with De Gruyter-Brill. We accept submissions in English, Spanish, and Portuguese!
In stratigraphy, “Subatlantic” refers to the climatic age the end of which we are currently living through. The SubAtlantic series challenges us to cross-map climate history and environmental crisis with the world-ecological chronotope of the Iberian South Atlantic.
While colonial expansion triggered monocrop plantations, extractive networks, genocide and enslavement, this world-ecological formation has also been a hotbed of resilient imaginaries of survivance and alliance-making among existents, from Caribbean Maroon ecologies to the multinaturalist ontologies of Amazonian and Andean societies as well as their reconfigurations in contemporary activisms and artistic practice.
Spanning the field in its geographical and historical breadth, as well as challenging polarized cartographies between North/South or center/periphery, we welcome submissions in the environmental humanities that are conversant with areas of innovation and expansion, including but not limited to animal, plant and fungal studies; energy humanities; hydroaesthetics; art-science activisms; transfeminist and queer ecocriticisms.
